Most utilised HR software: Payroll. Most keenly explored HR software: People analytics. These were some of the enlightening results from our first HR Digital Transformation survey last year. We have now launched our 2nd annual survey. To participate, click here.


Digital transformation is one of the most exciting developments in the HR industry today.


But beyond the flashy news about new applications and solutions which have the potential to transform HR, we wanted to put our finger on the pulse on the ground – what is the actual state of HR digital transformation?


It is especially relevant to what we do because dchr.tech - DecodeHR’s tech arm - aims to connect HR technologies to our clients, regardless of size, in a meaningful way.


The findings from our 2021 survey allowed us to better tailor tech solutions to people and organisations, to meet their expressed needs.


Said our Managing Director Evelyn Chow, “We can see that the transformation process is tough with too many choices and the stakes are high. Companies do need an HR digitalisation roadmap and the insight/data to select the right technologies. Our 2nd survey is part of our commitment to understand how companies are evolving and to continue to meet those needs.”


About Our 2021 Survey

It was conducted online between January 2021 to April 2021. Almost two-thirds of the survey participants were business owners, C-Level executives, HR Managers and HR Directors.


Interesting Findings

71% had already embarked on an HR digitalisation journey.


The top 3 types of HR software already used by participants were:

  • Payroll (61%)

  • Time and Attendance (43%) 

  • Core HR (33%)


The top 3 types of HR software which our participants were exploring were:

  • People Analytics (27%)

  • People Management (26%)

  • Competency Management (21%)


The top 3 factors influencing buying decisions when it comes to HR software:

  • Cost (79%)

  • Ease of Use (73%)

  • Features (57%)


Participants required the most help in:

  • Software Selection Process (23%)

  • Measuring Effectiveness of Software Purchased (20%)

  • Implementation (17%)
