The Role

The Director, Communications, will work closely with the business to build brand trust, reputation and visibility and help the organisation drive change and build bridges at a strategic and tactical level. You are passionate and innovative in the way you seek to lead the corporate communications function; am a strong problem-solver and an effective communicator who will address challenges, resolve crises (if necessary) and achieve the desired outcomes to achieve success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the organisation’s overall corporate communications, including the development and implementation of a communications strategy consistent with business strategies, needs and requirements

  • Organise media appearances to appropriately position the organisation's leaders and strategic initiatives

  • Oversee media interviews and train appropriate staff in developing key messages and procedures to mitigate media risks

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and execute crisis communications for various scenarios, such as negative social media commentary, claims litigation, pandemic preparedness planning, etc.

  • Lead and execute change management initiatives at strategic and tactical levels to drive efficiencies

  • Work closely with contracted PR agency, media and publications on all public relations matter related to corporate campaigns, including press releases, media backgrounders, infographics, articles, etc.

  • Manage the corporate communications budget to ensure that spending on corporate communications activities is within the allocated budget and optimized to achieve desired business objectives and results

  • Collaborate with marcom team to identify public voice of the brand

  • Collaborate with marcom team on corporate events and sponsorship activities - Plan strategic and tactical events to achieve goals within the allocated annual budget. e.g., create style guides and brand voice outlines for all public relations, marketing, advertising and other key functions

  • Draft press releases and speeches following organisational news. Develop press kits

  • Develop communications dashboard to create benchmarks and matrix for corporate communications efforts to track key results for the business

  • Ensure effective use of systems, work practices and methodologies through compliance with local legislation and company policies and procedures

  • Strict adherence to all processes with a high level of integrity and compliance

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, or business management and/or relevant discipline

  • Experience in hospitality or related industry is a plus

  • Proven track record with at least 10 to 15 years of experience in a similar field

  • Self-directed and able to effectively manage activities to achieve goals

  • Strong project management and people management skills

  • Innovative and quick thinking

  • Ability to work and communicate messages on multiple platforms

  • Knowledge in digital marketing and marketing CRM platforms such as Google Analytics, HubSpot, and related platforms would be an advantage

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
