Tips To Digitally Engage Your Workforce

Employee engagement has been an ongoing hot topic in companies these days. And there are many reasons as to why it remains as a hot topic amongst top management and leaders today - an engaged workforce translates to more productive workers.

While most companies would think of employee engagement as face-to-face interaction, such as holding town halls or conducting employee engagement surveys, it might be surprising to know that technology can actually play a huge role in keeping employees engaged.

Here are three suggestions to incorporate technology as part of your employee engagement strategy:

1. Automation

Technology can help to automate mundane processes within the workplace. Besides that it can also help to attract and retain employees as well. Technology such as machine learning or artificial intelligence creates a more fascinating workplace for employees beyond merely using the computer, providing employees with more dynamic work that can keep them continuously engaged.

2. Augmentation

The process of growing or adding something. In order to motivate employees to work at a higher productivity level, companies should augment their existing processes. With the constant evolving and development of new technologies, there will be an eventual need for companies to change the way business processes flow. While change might provide some uncertainties within the organisation, change should also be viewed positively as this will provide an avenue for employees to learn how to adapt and grow.

3. Amplify

Change within the organisation is bound to make employees feel uncomfortable and unwilling to step out of their comfort zones. In order to ensure that employees are comfortable with change, companies need to be forthcoming in supporting employees' learning and exploration of new technology. This includes allowing employees to propose and test drive new technologies and gathering their feedback at the same time. Similarly, communicating to employees about new changes and keeping them updated throughout the process is a great way to further keep employees engaged and motivated.
